Los Angeles County Youth Climate Commission
Youth and young adults have spoken out about the impacts of the climate crisis and the urgent need for action both around the world and right here at home. Born from youth advocacy, Los Angeles County is proud to establish the first ever Los Angeles County Youth Climate Commission (YCC).
The YCC is comprised of 25 young people representing the youth of LA County on the issues of climate change. Established by the Board of Supervisors, they work to strengthen LA County leadership on climate mitigation and adaptation by amplifying the perspectives and priorities of County youth. The YCC is coordinated by the Chief Sustainability Office, and Commissioners advise the Board of Supervisors and County departments on the County’s climate-related goals, plans, actions, policies, and initiatives. The Commission also works closely with young people across the County to hear their perspectives and help build the power of youth from the ground up.
